LGS 2021 Evaluation

GEN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS SECONDARY SCHOOL COORDINATOR MERT KALDIRIM;

Due to the epidemic, we observed that students preparing for LGS this year, like last year, showed more effort and needed guidance services more throughout the year.

As for the evaluation of the exam, we saw that the 2021 LGS was prepared in parallel with the statements made by the Ministry of Education. Candidates who had difficulties especially in the Turkish and Mathematics departments had an easy exam in the Science and Social Sciences departments, as expected.

GEN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT HEAD MELTEM KÃœLSAN;

The questions in the Mathematics Section in 2021 LGS consist of achievements in line with the MEB curriculum. Questions from all units except the last unit are included. We observe that this year, mathematics questions consist of questions based on analytical thinking, suitable for the new generation, that is, "skill-based" question style, and enriched with visuals. A few questions in particular have been prepared selectively and are questions that students who have mastered the subject can successfully overcome. It is noteworthy that the questions generally consist of multi-step processes and are prone to errors. This year, as in previous years, Mathematics will be the determining factor in the exam results.

GEN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS TURKISH DEPARTMENT HEAD METÄ°N KÄ°RAZ;

It was observed that the questions in this year's LGS came in parallel with the statement made by the Ministry of Education: No questions were asked about grammatical subjects such as "Verbals" and "Elements of the Sentence". In short, it can be said that the Ministry of National Education partially adhered to the previously published guide containing the subjects to be included in the LGS. Because although subjects such as "Spelling Rules and Punctuation" and "Rhetoric Arts" are included in the guide, no questions were asked about these subjects. In general, Turkish questions were easier than 2020 LGS. There was no full compatibility with previously published sample questions. The questions were mostly about topics such as "Meaning in Words", "Meaning in Pieces", "Graphic Interpretation", "Logical Reasoning". It was also seen that the exam did not include multiple questions.

The main determinants of the exam will be the "Logical Reasoning" and "Graphic Reading" questions.

GEN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS SCIENCE DEPARTMENT HEAD DUYGU RECBER;

It has been observed that the 2021 LGS Science questions are in line with the MEB curriculum, but some of the questions are not in the style of new generation questions, but consist of longer paragraphs and questions that question knowledge. The exam included questions that require attention by examining experimental data and measuring the ability to interpret tables, graphs and visuals. There are questions that may be selective for students. As an outcome, all units except the last unit are included.

GEN EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS SOCIAL STUDIES DEPARTMENT HEAD AHMET KARIKIZ;

The questions consist of questions that we can evaluate in the general sense of "new generation questions", that is, "skill-based questions", in line with the targets determined in the MEB curriculum. It consists of questions that do not require pure information, but require inference and interpretation on the questions. An attempt was made to distribute the questions equally to the achievements; However, it was observed that fewer inquiries were made throughout the year on issues that needed more attention. It was noted that, as in previous years, there was an intensive exam aimed at "interpreting the information". In the question distribution, an exam was held with a lot of easy and medium difficulty questions.

GEN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS HEAD OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES DEPARTMENT MELTEM METO;

When we evaluate the 2021 LGS English questions; The questions are in accordance with the national education curriculum and achievements and the questions were asked from the first 9 units. According to the curriculum, 2 questions each were asked from the 'Friendship' unit and 'The Internet' unit, and one from the remaining units. Although a question belongs to Unit 2, 'Teen Life', its words belong to Unit 9, 'Science'. There were no questions from the 10th unit 'Natural Forces'. The questions do not measure grammatical structure, but rather they measure reading comprehension, correct inference, and vocabulary knowledge. There is 1 negative root question in the exam. Other questions consist of positive question stems. Another point that draws attention is that, unlike previous years, no long paragraph questions were asked. Our general evaluation about the exam; The exam did not go beyond the syllabus and consisted of questions in a spiral structure. These are questions that students who read the questions carefully and make correct inferences can easily answer. 1 question is a distracting question, making it important to read carefully. Our opinion is that it is an easy exam compared to the exams administered in previous years.

GEN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS DEPARTMENT OF RELIGIOUS CULTURE AND MORAL KNOWLEDGE;

When the 2021 LGS Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge questions are examined, it is observed that they consist of easy questions that can be easily done. We can comment that this year's questions will be easier to solve than last year because they are shorter and clearer.
